Pressing Notes
Overproduced to a fault, this mixture of live concert footage and documentary was prepared by Fleetwood Mac
especially for LaserDisc. The audio was painstakingly mixed on state-of-the-art equipment using the most advanced
technology money could buy...in 1980. The result is a dreadfully recorded mis-mash of unintelligible lyrics and bass
that is so heavy you feel like your head is inside a sub-woofer.
Now for the good news. This was the last of DiscoVision's music titles, produced at the very tail end of the
life of Carson's plant. Shortly after Fleetwood Mac was run, the entire plant shut down, and all remaining
titles due for release were mastered and pressed by Universal Pioneer in Kofu Japan. The title contains the MCA
Videodisc standard "shrinking number" bumpers at the side break. The opening DiscoVision music is either recorded
heavily out of phase, or is actually stereo. Since there have been no actual "stereo" recordings of this music
recovered from a DiscoVision disc, the "out of phase" theory is most likely the case.
Release History
Fleetwood Mac was never reissued on LaserDisc.
